Spanish Immersion School Hires Experienced, Bilngual Interim Division Head

Escuela Bilingüe Internacional (EBI) is a PK to grade 8 independent school with two campuses in the San Francisco Bay Area: one in Oakland and one in Emeryville. EBI is the only Spanish-English bilingual, International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Northern California. The community of EBI, including the faculty and staff, is a unique and valuable asset to the school.
The interim division head for the 2023 – 2024 school year is responsible for supervising the overall Lower School program and all activities involving Lower School students, families, faculty and staff. The interim division head leads, manages and administrates the program for the holistic development of learners as well as promotes parent and community involvement. The interim division head serves on the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the head of school.
EBI was thrilled to appoint Erica Castro to the interim role for the 2023-2024 school year.
Meet the new leader
Erica was born in Oakland and raised in El Salvador where she earned a BA in Social Work and a certification in Peace Education. She developed extensive knowledge and experience in comprehensive education while working in community programs for youth development for 16 years in El Salvador. She started at EBI in the summer of 2016 after her return to California with her husband Gustavo. Erica has served EBI as its director of community programs and for the 2023-2024 year will serve as the interim lower school division head. In her spare time, she loves cooking, camping and spending time with her family. Her passion is to contribute to the development of the whole student from the community programs.
