Transition

We are far more than just an executive recruiting company.  We can help 12 months prior to a hire, with strategic planning support.  We can help 12 months during a hire, with an interim leadership placement.  And we can help 12 months afterward, with executive coaching and transitional assistance.

We are here to help you pivot.

The ideal is to transition gracefully from one leader to the next, with new hires on-boarding slowly and learning from more experienced mentors. The reality is that occasionally organizations find themselves at more challenging pivot points.  Sometimes, a previous senior leader was not successful. Sometimes a new position has been earmarked in the budget, but no one knows how to best define it--let alone hire for it.  Sometimes the timing is not right for a hire--more strategic planning is needed, a larger consensus must be formed, or the board needs a stronger case to be made. And sometimes a leader with high potential has been hired but is not quite ready for executive management.

These are the times that 12M Recruiting was made for: challenging pivots requiring a highly customized plan of action. The experts at 12M Recruiting can deliver targeted training, mentorship and support for new hires, management teams--or both.

Case Study

Nonprofit organization

The Challenge
The executive team at a nonprofit organization wanted to lay the groundwork for a new capital campaign by creating a new program built around innovation. Leadership team members and operational staff were divided on how to proceed.
The Pivot
Members of 12M Recruiting first conducted an assessment and helped the organization hire nationally for an innovation leader. After the hire, 12M Recruiting continued to support the leadership team in the background as ideas for the new innovation program began to bubble up. Critically, member of 12M Recruiting served as strategy facilitators during early design meetings and coached the innovation leader on how best to navigate challenging conversations.
The Outcome
The leadership team and operational staff coalesced around a new innovation roadmap and program, and is now prepared to launch a forward-thinking, multiyear capital campaign.
Case Study

High School

The Challenge
A school steeped in tradition learned approximately two years in advance that its chief academic officer position would be coming open. This is a school that celebrates long faculty and administrator tenure, so positions like this do not come open very often, and change is not easy for everyone. The faculty community was excited to rethink its both is curriculum as well as teaching and learning frameworks--but admittedly a bit apprehensive about possible outcomes.
The Pivot
Members of 12M Recruiting helped senior leaders plan far in advance of the actual hire--by conducting needs assessments, strategic planning sessions, and professional development workshops. Meanwhile, the search itself included highly customized performance tasks tied directly to ongoing curricular work, to help the hiring committee connect the hiring of a CAO to the ongoing work at hand.
The Outcome
The search was successful not only for the amazing leader who was hired, but for the process of helping the community prepare for changes ahead. Conversations and discussions were tough but therapeutic for many, and the faculty community as a whole moved toward a greater appreciation and readiness for impending transitions to curriculum and pedagogy.
