Designing a Role: The Importance of Choosing the Right Title

When building a new role for your organization, it may be a good idea to carefully consider the title of the position. When pondering the title, a few key questions may come to mind. To whom will this individual be reporting to? Will this person oversee a team of direct reports? Who are partners to this role, and what kind of partnership is needed in each case? How often will this person be working with other members of your leadership team? Is this a new position, or has it been a part of your organization for many years? By running through some key questions, you might get valuable ideas or insight on how to run the search, whom to include in the process and when to include those other stakeholders.
