With a current enrollment of approximately 315 students, Hausner provides a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that nurtures intellectual curiosity, creativity, and ethical growth. The head of lower school plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for students in grades TK-4. This newly revised leadership position oversees academic and social-emotional programming, supports faculty development, and strengthens connections with students and families. The successful candidate brings vision, structure, and collaboration to the role, building systems for onboarding, mentorship, and professional development.
With a focus on aligning curriculum and teaching practices with Hausner’s mission, the head of lower school advances academic initiatives, SEL, and community engagement, contributing to the school’s vibrant and inclusive culture. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to guide Hausner’s Lower School into a bright future. The position reports directly to the Head of School.

Meet the new leader

Sarina Fierro brings robust leadership experience in elementary education, having served as the Founding Head of Lower Division at Avenues Silicon Valley, where they led curriculum innovation, interdisciplinary STEM programs, and faculty development. Ms. Fierro also strengthened social-emotional learning and parent partnerships at Curtis School, emphasizing student wellbeing and inclusive, supportive school communities. She holds a Doctor of Education in K-12 School Leadership from the University of Southern California, a Master’s in Elementary Education from Manhattanville University, a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Syracuse University, and completed the New & Aspiring School Leaders Institute at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
