Innovative School for Students with Learning DIfferences Hires Dynamic Head of School
AIM AcademyFollowing a comprehensive and extensive search process including 18 candidates, AIM co-founders Pat Roberts and Nancy Blair along with Board of Trustees Chair Matthew Naylor and Vice Chair Al Chiaradonna, announced on October 21 that the next head of school of AIM Academy will be Annette Fallon.
"Our search led us to three highly qualified finalists, each with specific and extensive expertise in the education of students with learning differences," said AIM Executive Director and Co-Founder Pat Roberts. "After all was said and done, it was clear to us that Annette was absolutely the right leader to take the helm of AIM Academy at this unique point in time."
"We believe that Annette's experience at Baltimore Lab School, watching children learn when actively engaged and fully immersed in their learning experience and seeing the academic success of students when well-trained teachers delivered evidence-based curriculum and strategies to their students, uniquely prepared her to work with our team and lead AIM Academy into the next chapter of our future vision of AIM," said AIM Associate Director Nancy Blair.
Fallon's leadership roles on the national board of the International Dyslexia Association (Finance Committee) and her three-term position as President of the Maryland Branch of the IDA serve to provide her a broad view of the national and international landscape of learning differences. She currently serves as the Director of Outreach at Jemicy School outside of Baltimore, MD and will complete her School Management and Leadership Certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School in May 2022.
"I am thrilled to join AIM’s fearless and innovative learning community, and it will be an honor to lead AIM into our next shared chapter," Fallon said. "Every step of the highly comprehensive search process reinforced my commitment to serve as your Head of School. I am fully aligned with your mission, and I am eager to begin the transition process in the months ahead."
Meet the new leader
Annette Fallon spent 10 years at the Baltimore Lab School, a division of The Lab School of Washington, the original inspiration and design of AIM Academy under its mentor, Lab School of Washington Founder Sally L. Smith. Annette served as a teacher and ultimately went on to a leadership role as the Director of Admissions for eight years. Throughout her time at Baltimore Lab School, Annette believed what AIM believes…that children learn when they are actively engaged and fully immersed in their learning experiences. She also saw the academic success of students when well-trained teachers delivered evidence-based curriculum and strategies to their students.
Annette went on to become the Director of Outreach at Jemicy School outside of Baltimore, MD. Her leadership roles on the national board of the International Dyslexia Association (Finance Committee) and her three-term position as President of the Maryland Branch of the IDA served to give Annette a broad view of the national and international landscape of learning differences. Annette will complete her School Management and Leadership Certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School in May 2022.
