Imagine Your Ideal Candidate

Here’s another tip before even posting the job: collectively brainstorm specific adjectives of the ideal candidate. The mere process of letting each committee member share a few descriptors can help bring a group to unity and inspire individual members to let go of personal biases.  Keep those adjectives in your back pocket as you meet and evaluate candidates, but also later when you talk with references.  Most importantly, explore unexpected observations or reports...insightful information is often waiting just around the corner that could ultimately influence your hiring decision.
