The Optimal Number of Candidates to Invite to the Final Round

Four finalists may sound a bit taxing, but that strategy delivers power in diversity and safety in numbers. If one of three finalists were to pull out, you’d be left with a two-horse race.  And if one of those two bombed during the final round, the opportunity to make a strategic choice would evaporate.  The moral of the story is simple: invest as much time as you possibly can during the hiring process, and your ultimate decision will be all the more robust.
