Thursday Thought: New Article Series

Today we begin a new series showcasing thoughtful articles written by current, former, and rising nonprofit leaders.  We come across many amazing individuals as we run searches through the US and beyond, and their ideas continually impress us.  On an approximately monthly basis we will be featuring some of their insights, observations, and recommendations.  Today’s article comes from Greg McDonough, who is the innovation space coordinator at Lake Forest Country Day School, just outside of Chicago.

Being an executive in a nonprofit requires patience, imagination, and creative thinking.  Often, operations and day-to-day needs can distract us, or perhaps more appropriately gobble up all our free time.  However, it’s important to constantly reflect and explore new frontiers.  We all know creativity requires constraints, but it never hurts to push on those boundary walls occasionally to give ourselves a little more wiggle room.
