Weekly Thoughts From the Desk of the Senior Associate

The holiday season is my favorite time of the year. I look forward to putting up decorations, watching holiday movies, listening to Christmas music, and most importantly spending time with family. I also like to use this time to reflect on the areas I’ve grown throughout the year. As I think back I'm grateful for the new things I got to experience, and I’m happy with my personal successes.  However, I would admit that I can sometimes be a bit hard on myself, particularly when I focus on the goals I haven’t accomplished yet.

When I start to become aware of these feelings, I try to step back and remind myself that personal growth isn’t a race. New Year’s resolutions and goals don’t have a deadline because we all move at different paces. Even if you didn’t meet a goal this year, celebrate your little wins and the progress you’ve made in other areas.  If you’re struggling to see your progress, dig a bit deeper, think a bit more broadly, and most importantly give yourself the praise you deserve.

During your own time of past reflection and future goal-setting, remember to pace yourself. Develop a plan that is doable for you and allow yourself to have a flexible routine. We’re human: we can get off track but we can always return at any time. As the calendar turns to 2022, I hope you are excited as I am about another year of personal and professional growth.

Sincerely,

Micaela
