The Girls' Middle School will be hiring for a leader to oversee their advancement and development program, to start later this year and report directly to the head of school.

The Girls’ Middle School was founded by educator Kathleen Bennett in 1998 to provide a school that would nurture and empower a diverse group of girls during their critical adolescent years.  In 2011, GMS moved to its current home in Palo Alto. Today GMS enrolls approximately 200 girls from more than 45 elementary schools around the San Francisco Bay Area.

The philanthropic goals of GMS include, but go far beyond, running a typical annual fund.  Each year the Bennett Scholars Program supports high-achieving girls who attend under-resourced elementary schools and often represent the first generation in their families to be college bound. In addition to tuition, GMS provides Bennett Scholars with laptops, lunches, uniforms, one-on-one tutoring, and the costs of all trips and material expenses. The program is funded through the generosity of parents, alumnae, and members of the community. The program’s ultimate goal is to ensure that each girl and her family know that when she leaves GMS, she can determine her own path to whatever future she desires.
